The Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences built their mineral collection mostly in the 1800-1900 time frame and lost a mineral curator in the 1940's. Most of the collection was built in the 1800's with donations of collections built in the 1700's. As you can imagine, the collection on a whole served as a time capsule of mineral knowledge from that era. As soon as I heard about this collection being sold to a private party I desired to get all of the Asbestos samples from the collection and showcase them as a virtual gallery on the internet. Thanks to our good friends at Collector's Edge, Kristalle and Crystal Classics, we are able to present to you, the entire Asbestos suite from the Philadeplphia Academy of Natural Sciences!
